If you’re looking to add vintage characteristics and analogue musicality to your recordings, look no further than the 1977—Drawmer’s most comprehensive channel strip to date.

The 1977 gives you the clarity of an ultra-clean preamplifier, the precision of a three-band parametric equaliser, the silkiness of a soft-knee compressor, and, added to this, the ability to dial in as much warmth as you desire via three types of variable harmonic saturation.

The pristine preamplifier incorporates mic, line, and instrument D.I. inputs with 66dB of stepped gain, allowing you to make ultra-clean, transparent, and precise recordings; sweeten up dull audio; or perfect your guitar tone. It also features mic matching via switchable impedance, bringing out the best in every mic in your studio. Whether high-end, ribbon, or even your dullest mic, you’ll be able to find its sweet spot.

The 1977 incorporates a true parametric equaliser, inspired by 1970s-era analogue gear, with three bands of fully variable frequency control, cut and boost of ±12dB, and a fully variable bandwidth control on the mid band. This makes it incredibly versatile—capable of everything from subtle fine-tuning to sculpting problematic recordings, and, of course, anything in between.

The engineer has control over the order of the signal path, which can operate as either Gain–Equaliser–Compressor–Output or Gain–Compressor–Equaliser–Output, with each configuration creating a distinctly different tonal quality and coloration.

A full-featured compressor allows you to control the dynamics of your recordings, while Drawmer’s trademark ‘Big’ and ‘Air’ modes help to preserve the very deep lows and enhance the sparkling highs that lesser compressors often remove.

The compressor section also incorporates variable harmonic saturation with a choice of three styles, allowing you to warm up your recordings with complete precision.
